The Philippines won over Indonesia 2-0 in the championship game of the 2011 Southeast Asian Games Baseball competition. A big win for the Philippines. A bigger win for the players who even weeks before the tournament were not sure to make it.
Darwin de la Calzada pitched 9 solid shutout innings to get the win. It was a pressure packed game for the Philippines as the first 6 innings went scoreless. Finally the Philippine batters pulled through in the sixth inning with Tata Empasis hit to center field scoring Jot Angeles. In the 8th inning a hit by Jonash Ponce scored Fongs Rances to give the Philippines a two run cushion.
